Eating breakfast helps start the day right for everyone, may it be just coffee and bread, or milk and cereals. But what should a breakfast consist of to regard it as healthy? Does it give all the essential nutrients needed by the body?
First and foremost, breakfast is a very vital meal that gives the energy needed for everyday work. For the body to function properly, a healthy breakfast menu must be served to gain all the nutrients needed. The food eaten in the morning gives power to the body for it to move throughout the day. Breakfast must be healthy for the body to start properly and keep it going until further food is needed. Usually, people in a weight reduction program eat the most in breakfast and usually eat less during lunch and lesser during dinner. Breakfast is what keeps them going through the day though they eat less and less for the next meals.
What should a healthy breakfast be made of? Simple! The first of which is carbohydrates. A healthy breakfast menu usually consists of carbohydrates such as bread, potatoes, cereals, rice, and even pasta. The carbohydrates serve as storage areas of glucose for energy used by the brain and the body. Carbohydrates gives the body the jolt of energy needed for it to start and keep it going.
A healthy breakfast menu should also have proteins coming from meat, fish or eggs that are served along with the carbohydrates. Proteins are the building foundations of body tissues and can also give energy like that of carbohydrates but with lesser energy content. Milk can also give protein to the body but the calcium content offered by the milk is considered greater.
Lastly, a healthy breakfast menu would not be complete without fruits which give us the essential vitamins needed in the body. The most important vitamin contained in fruits is vitamin C which helps boost and take care of our immune system to avoid sicknesses. Fruits also contain potassium which reduces the risk of bone loss and helps in digestion and regeneration of cells.
